exactly what i expected Jan 14, 2010
By Lexie Lo. These are exactly what I was hoping for. A magazine storage/file system that doesnt break the bank. I got the ones in the crimson red color which make it look so much nicer than the old-fashioned brown cardboard magazine file boxes from years past.(crimson red I thought is a little more maroon than red, when i think red i think fire-engine red which it is not. it is a more muted tone. also the box has a glaze on it, so it looks a little shiny.)
I give these a 5, but you have to have some idea of what to expect. They are cardboard so my putting them on a shelf and storing magazines serves my purposes well. I'm sure if I was storing heavier books or other things the issue of strength of the box would come into mind. however you could always reinforce them by taping up the bottoms. which i haven't done yet but may just in case.

Superior solution to manage papers flow. Oct 18, 2009
By Average Consumer These replaced my file cabinet. They are superior in (a) They take less space: 2-3 shelves can handle more papers than file cabinets with 3-4 times the volume, not to speak of floor space. (b) They are more accessible; reducing the filing/search time to seconds. (c) They are more resilient to a mess; hanging file folders constantly drop papers and receipts creating a mess, which these boxes avoid...
If I have one wish is that they offer these in more lively colors.

Great organizing tool - well worth the price! Jan 19, 2011
By jannh I needed to organize piles and boxes of papers piled in several rooms of the house. I didn't want to spend a lot, because I was just organizing, and wouldn't know until I finished, what kind of final system I would need. I just line them up on a shelf, label them, and throw in different categories of paperwork.
These were not expensive, they assembled easily, are made from sturdy cardboard, and the color works well in my rooms with wood trim and shelves, beige/gold neutral walls. They are not bright red, and tend toward a deep red or maroon, without being too dark. They also have a slight gloss, which dresses them up. The color and finish were important to me, because I didn't want to feel like I would be making my room into a warehouse or storage room. Also, they are wide enough (4") to fit quite a bit in them. I bought 3 sets, and now my husband is using them too, so I will buy more.
I lined them up on a shelf, my husband lined them up on top of his computer armoire since there wasn't room inside for the number he is using-- taxes, bills, bank statements, medical, automobiles, timeshares, board mtgs, things to go to work, etc. My husband is not a filer, he is a piler, and we had LOTS of piles! Now he can just toss them into the labeled bankers boxes, and he knows right where to look for what he needs.
My children are beginning to use them too for college application info, music sheets, to keep project papers together, magazines, etc. For my daughter, we just covered a few with bright green paper to coordinate with her room.
Just a tip, since the boxes are open, dust will collect. I just use a hairdryer (on low speed of course, unless you like to reorganize often :)) and blow the dust off the papers occasionally, then dust the surfaces with the excellent feather duster I bought from Flylady.net. I like making our life easier and simpler, which is why I am buying more of these bankers boxes!

Finally found a storage solution Dec 18, 2010
By BarbZ I ordered the Persimmon and the Cornflower Blue, and really like these boxes. Magazine storage never seemed to be resolved in my home or home office... racks, etc., simply seem to create additional inaccessible piles. Now, I'm using the Blue for "Business Reads" and the Red for "Personal Reads", and use a different box to further sort my materials (think subdirectory on a laptop!) Everything is neatly lined up, and easily accessible. My magazine racks are either being repurposed, or going out the door!
There is a slight shine to the products, so they are fairly attractive. Great value, also.
