I was expecting this chair mat to be rectangular, which it is not. The mat is actually a trapezoid of height 48", with the two parallel sides 60" and 32". Other than that the mat is fine. My husband wanted to get mats made of polycarbonate over PVC because PVC maybe causes cancer.

Well, if I'd bothered to read the first review, I would have seen something that is not in the description and not clear from the pictures: this is NOT a rectangular mat. It's a strange Trapezoidal shape, which is useless for my office. All the pictures of rectangular chair mats are done in that same forced-perspective angle as this one, so I really didn't think that it would be an odd shape. I'm returning it and now looking for something of a similar size that's going to fit my office.
Other than that, it was shipped quickly and seems well-made.

"Usually VERY critical" -- and this is no exception. I should have read the reviews. The June 21, 2011 review is accurate about the trapezoidal shape, but the actual dimensions are even slightly smaller -- 47 wide by 32 and 58 on the parallel sides. Cleartex can get a lot more mats out of a fixed amount of material this way -- the area of the mat is less than 75% of what a true 48 x 60 rectangular mat would be. It REALLY sucks if you actually wanted/needed a 60 x 48 mat as advertised. This is going back and I'll find another chair mat -- definitely not Cleartex because of their deception. I'm not exactly thrilled with Amazon in this case either -- they shouldn't have allowed the deceptive description. Somebody is paying for 2 way shipping out of their profits.

Has to be special delivered, but worth it. It's a pretty big piece. I use it on bedroom carpet (since my home office is one of our bedrooms). Works as good as possible on medium/thicker carpet so you can still roll around.

The Cleartex Polycarbonate Chair Mat is great!
I work at my desk about 10-15 hours a day, and I really need a durable mat. This is it. I waited 6 weeks to write this review because I wanted to test the mat first. I'm convinced --- This mat is great. I've always bought top-of-the-line mats (although they don't last long), but I had never bought one like this before. I was skeptical because 1/2-inch didn't sound thick enough (I was wrong) and because it wasn't very expensive. Wow -- Have I ever been surprised and pleased.
Things I love about the mat:
-- I don't see any wear and tear at all. That's a big improvement from what I've experienced with other chair mats.
-- The polycarbonate is harder than other mats I've bought. That means my chair rollers slide easily across the mat. (It's not slippery, though.)
-- Because the mat is harder, it doesn't get impressions when someone sits in the chair. Those impressions lead to crazing in other mats.
-- It has a nice feel and look to it ... a very slightly textured surface.
Things that may bother some people:
-- The shape is not rectangular. That surprised me. The advertisement photo looks like it's a perspective picture, but the mat really is trapezoidal. Some people may like this because it looks more stylish. (The advertisement does say trapezoidal, so it's my fault ... Still, I think the photo could be a bit less misleading.)
-- The packing wasn't great. However, the mat was in perfect shape when it arrived, so no worries.
This mat is the best I've ever had, and I highly recommend it if you want a durable, attractive chair mat. It arrived quickly, and I am very pleased with it.
