2Terrible Touch-Sensitivity  Jun 05, 2008 By El Steve "roark413"
The touch sensitivity on this calculator is so bad, I can't type in numbers for fear of them not getting registered. It is frustrating when you're in meetings, trying to calculate something, only to have trouble inputing into the device. I used to have the HP 17BII, and that one was heaven. Solid as a rock, but it seems that when they made this new model and added a "+" sign to the title, they had it manufactured using cheap parts and shoddy craftmanship.

Don't buy this. Awful.

5Good Decision  Jul 07, 2009 By Su Doku
I really like this calculator. It's the same size as the HP10bII, but slightly rounded to fit more comfortably in your hand. The keys/buttons are much larger. It has a nicely lined case that closes with a magnetic snap. The manual is well-written with a good amount of illustrations, examples and details. My only criticism is that the set-up instructions written on the first two pages do not include "setting the clock" (page 142).

I have used HP calculators forever. I own the HP11c, HP12c (original and upgrade), HP10bII and now this one. There are a lot of arguments or comparisons. Here's my summation: I have never bought anything that I didn't think was worth what I paid for it, or more. Quality, value, capability and capacity are my most important criteria. The buttons on this calculator feel solid and fine - providing enough tactile response, where I can input numbers (and know that they are correct) without looking at the screen. That's good enough for me. Now some specs...

It uses two CR2032 batteries (which were dead in my retail purchase) that require a pen to remove. It has 250+ functions, a clock with date/time with alarms. It offers switchable input between algebraic or RPN. The size is 3x5.5 inches (+/-) 2mm. Orange, red, or blue secondary functions have been replaced by a row of 6 multi-function keys with various menus. There are a few yellow-marked secondary keys (5 arithmetic, 3 memory, 3 data, 4 menu and "OFF") for quick access and one dedicated input/clr data key. But compared to all the other HPs, this keyboard is very clean and easy to read. The left and right sides are slightly rubberized for a solid grip and the bottom has non-slipping feet.

While it takes time to work with a calculator, I think all my other HPs will soon be sold or given away as gifts. And, my original HP12c is now a keepsake.

5Worked fine for me  May 28, 2009 By Amazon User
No problems, and was just right for what I needed for my graduate school work.

2Demands Constant Attention  Aug 05, 2011 By MK - Brazil
I have had HP calculators for the past 25 years and was always happy about them. Exception is made to this one that I bought. Many times you press the number buttons but no number appears on the screen, leading you to be abliged to pay constant attention and check all numbers typed everytime you make a calculation. Because of that, I have tried as much as possible not to use this calculator. I have to take it to a HP representative to fix it, but I do not have time for that. I had bought a slightly different version, but the seller delivered the wrong model and convinced me to keep it by giving me a discount. I should not have accepted his offer but my flight back to Brazil would be in two days and there would be not enought time to receive the right model within the short timeframe I had. Sometimes I guess that the product may has been refurbished prior it was sold to me as a new one (just a guessing).
I reccomend the HP brand, but do not feel comfortable to reccomend neither this specific product nor the seller.
