If you aren't familiar with the House of Doolittle, they make everything from corporate calenders to this desk blotter. I bought this desk pad to fix problems of page curling that I was having with my Levenger blotter. This review is about the blank sheet format, which is excellent for "doodling," freethinking and the combination of drawing diagrams and ideas together.
Cons:
Since this blotter is made mostly out of recycled content, the paper "leatherette" pad is the worst part of the package. It looks really fakey and is a mere simulacrum of an actual sewn pad (the purpose of having a top-oriented pad is to bank your pens/pencil--not actually provide a lift so you don't smudge the page).
The paper is flimsy...just a hair or two stronger than newsprint. The paper itself is too flimsy to archive or punch and fold to use in a notebook. You won't be carting this blotter around like a sketchpad unless you have a board to go underneath it. Refills are offered in blank and monthly schedule only. The appearance is worth about two stars.
Pros:
The two lower corners keep the paper from curling or being damaged. This deskpad, if you can stomach it's cheap fake fancy look, is compatible with Levenger Morgan Dreampads--excellent, heavyweight paper (in schedule, storyboard and window format)--but is, believe it or not, superior to all of the really expensive leather deskpads because of the corners. It's thus "vegan" and green. Who cares if it looks a little cheap when it does a better job of protecting Levenger paper than the $150-200 Levenger desk pads do? Functionality/value/company philosophy is five stars plus.

I use this on my Bible Study desk. Keeps my table from getting scratched and makes writing easier. If the cover sheet gets dirty or I doodle on it I just throw the top paper away. Refills are available. It's all I hoped for and I am very pleased with it.
