Easy Back Up Sep 17, 2005
By Thomas R. Collins I bought this hard drive to be a backup for my desk top and lap top. I like the fact it is self powered thru its USB connection and is small enough to take along in a Lap Top case. I would recommend this hard drive to anyone looking for backup storage.

It's been a while I use this drive and I am very satisfied with it. It is fast, reliable, true plug&play install, has a wonderful backup software included and Iomega gives a great support for it if you have a problem. There was a couple of times when the drive refused to work, the head started clicking for long seconds, and stopped but later, it turned out that it was not the drive's problem, actually my USB hub (from Iogear) did not give enough power to the drive so then it started choking. Now using my new USB hub (D-Link) I never had this problem again nor if I use it directly from my laptop. Awesome product!

Oh Oh Jun 07, 2007
By Leslie E. Spokany What seemed to me a brain dead operation turned out to be a disaster. Instructions do not tell you that you should not back up programs with a password, or remove thumb drives (on back up it backs up every drive) When I tried a restore my files were lost, due probably to the password problem.
On the plus side it is small and nifty looking.
I returnd mine.

BIG mistake--get a back up hard drive for your back up hard drive Apr 12, 2007
By kinsey-k I was delighted with my cute, powerful little iomega portable, external hard drive, chose it after extensive research based on solid reviews, small, truly portable size (even fit in my small purses)...delighted, that is, until it started clicking, whirring, and not reading the files it holds...only 2 1/2 months after i got it! i sought support from a representative in an online 'chat', and was told that clicking/whirring indicates fatal error. "I'll send you instructions for getting a replacement." Great. How do I retrieve my data? "Oh, it's gone. I'm off in 5 minutes. Will send instructions tomorrow. Bye. >>>your chat session has ended<<< "
Except he didn't email instructions --even after two emails to follow up--final went to online support for a 'chat', and got the same guy (perhaps there is only one?), who apologized and said he gets really busy sometimes. Asked about data recovery--he gave me their number. At no charge, I assume? No, they'll replace the unit but I have to pay for recovery even if it's due to a faulty unit! I know Iomega is supposed to be a reputable company, but sounds like a scam.
Am I going to get a replacement? Yes. Am I going to keep it? No way--straight to ebay. The next one I get will have strong reviews, but i'll sacrifice a few gigs for a lower cost and get to be safe--I'll use one to carry files to/from work and conferences; the other for stay at home back up.
Great for the money! Nov 13, 2007

This External Hard Drive is the best I've used. No problems and works flawlessly. I use it as an External HD with a PVR and it hasn't missed a beat. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
