Fire Safety for Your Home
The National Fire Protection Association recommends storing one ladder in every occupied room of your home that is above the main level. With a Kidde Escape ladder, you can keep your family and children safe in the event of a fire or other emergency.

Ideal for Second- or Third-Story Escapes
The Kidde Escape Ladder is available in two models. Each model features a strong and lightweight design, compact storability, and one-foot wide rungs.

The Kidde KL-2S extends to 13 feet for use in second-story rooms, and the Kidde KL-3S extends to 25 feet for an escape route from third-story rooms.

Quick and Easy to Use
Kidde Escape Ladders store compactly and don't deploy until you need them. Each ladder fits easily under a bed or in a closet near the window. If a fire necessitates an escape from the second or third story of your home, it's easy to move a Kidde Escape Ladder to the window, open and place the attachment hooks over the windowsill, and pull the release strap to unfurl the ladder.

Warning: Kidde Escape Ladders are designed for one-time use only. Discard after single use. Repeat use may result in injury or death.

Strong and Durable
With metal rungs and red nylon strap rails, Kidde Escape Ladders can support up to 750 pounds on one rung or 1,000 pounds when the load is distributed on more than one rung.

Anti-slip, zinc-plated steel rungs prevent slipping and ensure a safe descent, and the ladders are flame resistant for increased protection.

Kidde Escape Ladders are backed by a five-year manufacturer's limited warranty.

5Very nice piece of mind  Aug 29, 2010
I wish I would have gotten this years ago and I'm lucky that I haven't needed it. The construction is high quality and should work with no problems. I wish it would be easy to practice with but I can understand the reasoning for leaving it factory folded until there is an emergency. You wouldn't want to have a snagged ladder when you were in a hurry to exit. From what I can tell it would be possible to unfold the ladder and fold it back up as it just has nylon straps connecting the rungs. I'm not to worried about practicing and will take my chances. Overall I'm very glad I bought this model as it is clean and well built, giving a very nice piece of mind. It stores in a small box that just fits under the bed.

4Kidde Three-Story Fire Escape Ladder  Aug 17, 2010
I haven't done a practice drill yet using the fire escape ladder. It appears to be well constructed. I hope to never need it.

2poor packaging  Aug 15, 2010
Thanks to another review that advised opening before the emergency might happen. The packaging is terrible. The ladder is wrapped in plastic and you'd have to read the directions to figure out how to use it. In an emergency, it's just too much. I bought another ladder a few years ago for my oldest daughter going to college. It was packaged to open and put directly in the window. This one, you have to slide out of the box, pull off all the plastic and then figure out which piece goes where. not good in an emergency. I've re-boxed it with labels to make use easier.

5Seems well made  Jul 28, 2010
I certainly hope that I never need to use this, but if I do, I feel confident climbing down on it. I believe some of the previous reviews complain that this ladder is for "one use only." I think there are two easy explanations for this:

1. If you do use it to escape a fire, its probably best not to use it again. You hopefully escaped early in the fire and the ladder took more heat, etc as the fire progressed. Its just safer to buy a new one.

2. Kiddie is protecting itself legally by instructing you not to open the ladder until you need it. Its pretty compactly packed and has been done that way to keep the ladder from tangling. If you do practice with it, it doesn't look that hard to pack back up. Just plan on it taking more than 5 minutes (a second person wouldn't hurt either).

I checked to make sure that the ladder was long enough (yes), but am against climbing down it until I need to. I'm 3 floors up and would rather not risk falling off the ladder until necessary. I can't see risking that with children either. Practice the escape plan, but skip the actual descent.

5works perfect  Jul 17, 2010
Have not done a fire drill yet, but this is a well made product and will work well. Everyone with a two story or more house should have one of these period!
