5Fantastic For The Price!  Mar 05, 2009 By John Greenlow "Thermocline"
Found unit built fairly well.

Another review stated the lamp arm to base mount is poor and needs redesigning. I believe they missed these following few steps to assemble the arm to the base.>>>>>>

There is a pass through pinch bolt that is in place on the base during shipping that first needs to be removed to allow the arm to fully be inserted with it's curved key slot in alignment with the pinch bolt and then the pinch bolt is reinserted and tightened.

The above assembly method keeps the arm firmly in place within the base.
You can't fault anyone that may not have seen how this is assembled due to the fact there are no ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS enclosed with the unit. Guess the manufacturer made the assumption all would know!

3Great light - but very wobbly  Dec 30, 2008 By Bromptonboy "Bromptonboy"
I purchased this magnifying lamp for an elderly relative who needs help in reading. The lamp provides bright targeted light, and the magnifying glass is large and rectangular, greatly helping in reading.

This lamp misses in a few other areas. The base itself is heavy, and steady, but the way the swing-arm connects makes the whole unit very wobbly. The arm should be engineered better, so that it can be adjusted on the fly.

4OK for the price  Jun 14, 2009 By Cameron
The lens is good quality glass with little distortion on the edges. Assembly was not difficult. I had to disassemble the head to secure the lens & re-glue the clear covers over the bulbs. I was unable to find a better unit in this price range.

4Good lamp, wasn't quite right for me  Aug 19, 2010 By Marty
I wanted a lamp that would be portable so that I could take it to my craft classes. Because several of us work at long tables right next to each other, I felt a clamp on lamp would not be convenient and might take up too much room. Since I do my work in my lap and not on the table, I had to bring the lamp/glass portion out as far as I could. Then the lamp would fall over due to it's weight. The glass/light is very heavy. So I had to use a vise clamp anyway to keep it from tipping. This was the only negative in my own situation.

Otherwise this lamp would be excellent for anyone who would be working or reading on the platform right under the light. It has very good magnification and lighting. I still plan on using this lamp for my classes. I didn't have any trouble putting the lamp together as some of the earlier reviewers did.
