1You Get What You Pay For #2  Oct 01, 2009 By Frank
I bought this item late May 2009, and received the briefcase I kept in mid-June. I have waited until late Sept to review this product, as one can only judge the quality of a product like this over a period of time. I want to give a review that gives the reader a sample of the item's expected life span. I'm a commuter, and I use it 5 days a week, never carrying a load that is significantly heavy.

One of the hand grips broke off after just two days of use, and one of the large zipper pockets did not have the zipper aligned evenly, so it wouldn't fully close. After some delay, (though notably without any argument) the company I bought it from, Gift Warehouse, sent me a replacement.

After a little over 3 months of normal use, one of the two small front pockets has a rip in the internal seam, so sometimes I'm placing things in the briefcase pocket, sometimes in a cavity. More importantly, over the past month I have noticed a tear below the zipper line of the large front pocket, and it is widening. When it gets big enough, my items will no longer be secure and I'll have to purchase a new briefcase.

The design itself is not the best for my taste. Like many briefcases, it has a large front pocket, and two very small ones.

Other briefcases I have had have a large front pocket, but somewhat smaller and more recessed into the briefcase so as not to bulge. Also, past briefcases have had two smaller pockets, one 1/3 and the other 2/3 in relative size. The 1/3 size pocket is good for keys, and the 2/3 size pocket is large enough for a variety of things one wants in a readily accessible place.

With this briefcase, the large front pocket bulges, creating the strain which resulted in the tear I mentioned. The two small front pockets are good for keys, and bulge out with anything more (hence the tear in the inner lining). This briefcase's large front pocket is large enough to necessitate digging through other things to find what you want, so priority items may not be immediately accessible.

Additionally, the shoulder strap has no shoulder pad. It really digs into your shoulder if the briefcase is carrying any weight at all. I'm glad I saved the strap from my previous shoulder bag.

I paid $19.99 plus shipping with Amazon. For the price, it's not that bad. In my opinion, the price allows this product to be a stop-gap between briefcases in case you don't find the one you want right away, but not anything more.

3You get what you pay for.  Aug 17, 2009 By KB
Great for the price. I wanted a leather case to keep certain papers together, and purchased it because of the great price. You may not know from the picture that it is a patchwork of leather scraps sewn together. The zipper on the top does not completely seal the the main compartment so small items might fall out, but books and pads would not. I like the zipper compartments on the sides. You can put pens and so on in those compartments and they won't fall out. I ended up with two of them and gave one to a friend. He loves his, and uses it all day every day for books and papers. He is wheelchair bound but finds it perfect for carrying things. His was just damaged on an airplane flight, so he asked me for the ordering information and ordered a replacement!

5Great Briefcase!  Dec 16, 2008 By D. Dowd "2 Cats on Emerald"
This briefcase was a great deal. It is made of real leather and is constructed very well. It has plenty of storage spaces and zippered compartments and I'm so happy with it. Not too big and not too small, just perfect for job hunting since I got layed off last month. Highly recommended!

5great briefcase  Feb 07, 2009 By G. E. Gonderinger "Gondo"
To be honest for $13.95 I didn't expect much and thought that it would probably look very plastic. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is an elegant soft leather briefcase. It's a great buy.

5Leather Briefcase  Apr 07, 2011 By Camille
Leather briefcase is incredible for the price -- lightweight, real leather; has nice dividers for varied files; well arranged for laptop and accessories.

However, even after a few weeks, and airing it outside, and spraying it with a fragrance, it still has the odor of leather stored inside a plastic bag for a long time. The odor is strong and clings to the items I place in and take out of the briefcase.

But overtime, it will be worth it. I love the brief case.
