A PERFECT FIT May 23, 2007
By J. B. Gauthier I bought this case for my wife's Nikon D40 camera and it's a perfect fit. A word of caution though. If you intend to purchase the Nikon D40 bag kit (comes with a spare battery - highly recommend it), beware that you will not be able to place the camera with the case in the Nikon bag (not enough room).

This cover goes good with the case kit made for the D40. I wish the case was a little larger. I also wish they made a more custom cover that you could leave on camera in use.

By P. Booth The Nikon CF-DC1 Semi-Soft Case is a great protective accessory for my Nikon D40 camera. It is not a camera bag and shouldn't be expected to take the place of a camera/gadget bag. It is a protective case and it does the job very well. I keep it on my camera all the time when not actually taking pictures. I often carry my camera on my shoulder for easy access when sightseeing and this case protects it from bumps and bruises. It protected my camera from damage when I dropped it and it came in very handy when we were out on a boat and the sea spray was getting us. I will agree with other posters that the case is a bit awkward but there is a little snap tab on one side that you can fasten around your Nikon strap that keeps the case handy. I just slide the case up the strap out of the way. My daughter just received a Nikon D40 from her husband for her birthday yesterday. I recommended this accessory as a must-have. She is buying it today. By the way ladies, if you are like me and sometimes carry your camera in your purse or tote bag this case protects it from the other items you carry.

By drjl Nikon CF-DC1 Semi-Soft Case for Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera (25355) This case completely covers my D40 with the 18-55 kit lens or with the 55-200 VR lens attached. It makes it easy to bring just the camera (with one lens) rather than my full camera bag. Other reviews mention that it doesn't attach to the camera at all. Perhaps it's been recently improved, because mine has a little loop that goes around the existing camera strap and it dangles off the side of the strap as I use the camera. I give it 4 rather than 5 stars because my only suggestion would be to add couple of small pockets on the inside of the case alongside the lens. That would be useful to carry an extra SD card or battery, but so far in 3 months of ownership I have not yet had the battery run out on me or use up all the space om my 4 GB SD card. Very nice case indeed.
