3Buy the (CHEAPER?!?!) Pelican 1495 case. It's way better  Mar 06, 2011 By Sean Foulkes
Sooo....

I bought this case for my Macbook Pro for Iraq. Overall, it is much better of a case than any soft case. But it feels noticeably less sturdy than all other pelican cases i've ever come across. The top and bottom of the case seem thinner and less reinforced than the bulletproof standard pelican cases.

After we got to Iraq, a friend ordered the Pelican 1495 (has latches on the sides AND front, better handle, locks, etc etc etc). The 1495 is FAR SUPERIOR to this computer case. It is more rigid, stronger, better built, more professionally designed, pretty much beats this case out on all fronts.

Not sure why Pelican even makes this case, now that I have seen both of their laptop cases. And considering that the 1495 can be found for something like $30 cheaper almost everywhere online, it is a no-brainer.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing technically wrong with this pelican case at all. It is just that for less money, you can get a much better pelican laptop case in the 1495. And be careful, there is a "fancy" version of the 1490 that has some crappy lid organizer and plastic crap laptop cutout bottom section that looks completely unsafe compared to the case itself. It is another $75-100 on top of the 1490's already bloated cost, and with even less protection for your computer, all to have some flashy looking accordion file lid organizer.

So, save yourself money and buy the 1495. That is all.

5Expensive but worth it!  Oct 31, 2011 By Sparcs500
Purchased this case for my Sony Vaio. I had been using an Aluminum Mezzi case which offered little protection. I was pleasently surprised to see it was well made in the USA. There is foam under and around, surrounding the laptop. It is quite weather proof with good secure hinges and a rubber gasket sealing it upon closing. It was well worth the price.

5My husband loves it!  Aug 16, 2011 By jtounurse
Sent this with my husband to Afghanistan when he deployed, it is heavy, but it's worth it! We packed all the valuable electronics he was taking in it. It's waterproof and has a pressure equalizing seal. I ordered the wrong size case at first, so check the case size. Amazon was great about returning the case that was too small. I recommend this to anyone who travels.

5Unbeatable protection for your laptop  Sep 25, 2010 By S. Watkins "swatkins01"
I have used other Pelican cases in the past and have never been disappointed. They provide the ultimate protection for whatever you place inside. Like other Pelican cases, the outside is made of a special kind of extremely hard and durable thick plastic and the case is watertight. Inside, the foam padding is pre-scored in many locations, making it easy to custom-fit the pad to your particular notebook. If you need to protect your notebook from harsh environments and/or rough handling, this is the case is the best for the job.

5best case for your dollar  Jul 15, 2007 By Matt "Matt"
I am in the U.S. military, and first got turned on to pelican cases because we store some very sensitive night vision equipment in them and thought if it does such a great job with those then it should be good for my computer. alot of my buddies got them now and are very pleased. the only thing is that they do look very military so if your a professional going to a white collar office, i suppose it wouldnt go with your armani. but aside from that, its a great case and couldnt be happier.
