Strong case Oct 11, 2010
By Matthew G. Hipp Great product. I took my 17in Alienware to Afghanistan in it and didn't have a problem with it. The case was in my Stryker when we had a roll over and my laptop was fine. With stood a year of dust, dirt, and high temps without issue. I used it as a stool at times and never scratched my laptop. There ARE issues though on the civilian side. The case weighs 11 lbs or so, then you have to add the weight of whatever you put in it, my laptop weighs 13 lbs, so you can see it's heavy. Next, it's pretty much too big to carry on a plane, it doesn't fit in most over head bins and it does not fit well under the seats in front on you. I ended up putting mine on the floor and then resting my feet ontop of it. Realise the deminsions and the weight. Short of that mine survived an IED blast so I think you'll be safe.

Nearly perfect Jun 17, 2007

"Dwarvish Overcompensation"
This case Fits a 17" monitor. Since I have a 15inch I have room for a spare battery, travel mouse and small periferals. Secure and crushproof. I can stand my 200lb self on the lid and it only bows 1/4 of an inch. Haven't had the guts to try it with a two tonne truck......
My ONLY gripe, and the reason I bought a slightly less pretty case {from the same company} is that in one dimension it won't make all airline travel space restrictions.

Absolutely perfect for anyone in a rugged environment Oct 21, 2008
By Rad Raven Although it was a little bigger than I realized, it worked out perfect for me as I could also place other accessaries such as a camera and charger in the case. I'm in the military and when I go on a deployment I need a case that can be packed and tossed at a moments notice. The Pelican laptop case is nothing but proven durability.

This is an outstanding level of Protection for my laptop. Jul 03, 2008
By J. Hughson I bought this case to protect my new Toshiba 17 inch laptop. The case is extremely rugged and my laptop fits perfectly. The case came with the pick and pluck foam but instead of defining a custom shape I found that I had to remove the maximum amount in order to fit the huge power cable that my laptop utilizes. I was torn between this model and the one that has the organizer in the lid and am glad I chose this one. I don't think my power supply would have fit if I chose the fancier of the two. The foam in the lid is extremely forgiving when it comes to adding a slightly oversized item. I was happy to find that this came with a shoulder strap inside the case. None of the other reviews mentioned if it did or not and the product description didn't clarify it one way or the other. We use pelican products at work so I knew they were something that could be relied on to protect electronics. Of note - I ordered this through the "Optics" reseller and had the product in 6 days. If I had ordered it directly from their site I would have saved on the shipping costs.

Exact fit Feb 25, 2008
By Richard J. Lent Jr. I have a HP Pavilion dv9000 and wanted to protect it as much as possible. The Pelican 1495 case was exactly what I needed. I have taken it with me everywhere and feel confident that it is protected. A perfect fit.
