Worth the money Feb 18, 2008
By P. Moore A very sturdy product. Can't be shut unless the numerical combination remains in the open sequence. Plenty of room though it could use more organizational compartments. Would buy one again.

I love it Sep 30, 2010
By Liang Y. Li
"Merely a radiohead fan"
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this case - but let me try to temper my exuberance by giving some, you know, sobering impressions.
First off, I've only had this for a day, so I can't comment on the durability. I will update this review accordingly if I run into problems. It does come with a 10 year warranty, which is reassuring. But I want to write a review because I know one tends to get very apprehensive purchasing something online, without being able to touch and hold it.
The exterior is not thick plastic, but very thin -- the plastic is like the plastic case to an instrument box, perhaps a bit thinner. It flexes slightly, and there is a weave texture. There is no padding, except for a thin grey cloth on the interior. Things will go clunk in this case.
I was very apprehensive about purchasing this case. Let me just remark that I did not get what I expected to get -- I expected something slightly heavier and thicker, rather than the "instrument case plastic". This is not, you know, a Hartmann briefcase made of the best materials. It's plastic, rubber (there are two strips rubber or soft plastic running running around the case), metal, and cloth.
At the same time, I do like what I got. There are no craftsmanship problems I can see, even though the materials are relatively cheap (you know, not leather). It seems very well designed, the hinges feel solid. The grey cloth is visibly cut and glued on in the corners, and there are a few wrinkles there, but otherwise, it lies nice and flat.
But yes -- I'm absolutely in love with it. It seems very no-nonsense and efficient, but not overly done, like the iPod or the swiss made stuff. It is made in China, but I do not see any craftsmanship flaws and it seems carefully designed. The two rubber strips are a nice touch.

Let me tell you a bit about what I carry on me. I write using an old Staedtler technical pen, I carry a small pocket flashlight, I have a moleskin and an insulated aluminum bottle. I've wanted a hardsided briefcase for the longest time, ever since I saw the one my high school math teacher had. I had a northface backpack that was recently stolen, so I splurged on this briefcase. I like this case a lot, and it matches my, you know, pragmatic inclinations. I have no qualms about "cheap" materials, as well as it's well made, and this seems to fit the bill.

OK, but could be better Feb 22, 2008
By Teacher I don't find this product on Samsonite's web site, so it might be discontinued. Anyway, I've had a previous version of this hardsided attache case for 20 years and have liked it a lot. This one is a little disappointing because the files section only has two pockets instead of the three I was used to, and they don't seem to open as wide. Also, I've had to learn to open it in an upright position because the files tend to fall out if I open it when it's flat, which did not happen with the earlier version. Other than that, I'm pleased with what I got.

Samsonite Brief Case Review Feb 14, 2007
By James Eddleman Though difficult to find, the ABS case exceeds all others I have used for twenty five years. The somewhat utilitarian appearance is overcome by it's durability and its ability to well protect soft or delicate objects.
Pretty Good Briefcase for the Money Apr 20, 2012
By Thomas Clair
"MrTrips"
This is my 4th Samsonite Briefcase over a course of 25 years. This one is like my others hard plastic outside to take abuse etc. The Inside is pretty spacious and not a lot of bells and whistles, it gets the job done the way it is. The only complaint I have is the unlock on each side you kinda have to pull up a little as you push the button, doesnt feel very sturdy but I believe it will work. Would buy it again
